Movie Review: Lage Raho Munnabhai: ~~~Laughter Bole to ~~~ Laughter with Tears~~~

If we draw a flow diagram for the transformation of Munnabhai, it will be somewhat like this:
Dadagiri --> Jadoo ki Jhappi --> Gandhigiri --> ?? What next?

Transformation is a process. It can be upstream and downstream only. Downstream is not difficult for anyone to achieve, as no (inner)force is required for that. Force is required to resist downstream thrust, and Force is required to go for upstream transformation.
                      Munnabhai has become a legend:
This was a new type of experimentation started from MB-MBBS and in the next sequel LGMB, which could be rejected drastically by public, but it did not happen. Both the movies have been highly acclaimed and have been accepted over-whelmingly by the public. So the question is what made public accept it? Be it MB-MBBS or LGMB, I think people accepted both the movies because:
1.       There is no vulgarity
2.
There is something in the movie that touches your heart and bring out tears in your eyes
3.
It tells you that to be good you don’t need to be good to start with, even a Tapori can have a golden heart
4.
There is a different kind of classy comedy with no cheapness at all
5.
It is applicable for all ages
6.
It has a solid message for any simple human being
7.       It projects normal life problems and solutions, both handled and conveyed excellently

What next?

Next sequel could show Munnabhai as:
A Government Official
A Super Cop
A Jailer
A Politician
A Controller of an Asylum
A Caretaker of Poor People’s house

What is the message?
Message is: Get Hallucinated for the balance part of your life for a good cause.

Now About the Movies and the Ratings:

The Directionnn: Great direction. I think LGMB was more refined and matured than MB-MBBS.
The Musiccc: Superb Music by Shantanu Moitra
The Lyricsss: Good Lyrics.
The Casttt: Sanjay Dutt as Murali Prasad Sharma a.k.a. Munnabhai, Vidya Balan as Jahnvi, Arshad Varsi as Sakreshwar a.k.a. Circuit, Boman Irani as Lakhbir Singh a.k.a. Lakki
The Chemistryyy: Sanjay Dutt and Vidya Balan, Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Varsi, Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani
The Gandhiii: The special character portrayed, as Gandhi is the best part. The scenes of arguments between Gandhi and MB are marvelous
The Sequenesss: very well woven script and direction, totally flawless.
The Scripttt: well written.
The Emotional Touchéee: MB as RJ giving solutions to different problems were really touchy
The Storyyy: MB is in love with RJ Jahnvi. He grabs a chance to meet her (Love ke liye Saala kuch bhi karega). She has adopted some old men whose real relations don’t want to take care of them. He projects himself as a professor, and she invites him to speak on Gandhiji at her house on a weekend. He decides to devote his time in a library to understand as much as possible about Gandhiji. And there is a twist – He starts talking to his inner self, which is portrayed as Gandhiji. He gets so influenced by Gandhiji that now starts a dialect between him and his inner self. He starts turning from a bad world guy to a Gandhigiri guy. Then starts a fight between him and Lakki the Builder (not Bob the Builder), and ultimately after some twists and turns he wins his battle with himself, his fights with Bob, err I mean Lucky and Vidya’s love. All with the help of Gandhigiri.

A Question:
Can you think of an alternative for Munnabhai role done by other than Sanjay Dutt. I think a role like Munnabhai and Sanjay Dutt are complementary for each other. No substitutes possible.

Some Conclusions:
Vidya Balan played her role fantastically. Full marks to her. She did a very matured actingSanjay Dutt and Arshad Varsi roles gel together very wellBoman Irani has a huge versatility in portraying any kind of characterEach Character delivered their best means the full credit goes to the DirectorIf KANK displayed little darker shade of human nature, Omkara displayed the darker shades,  LGMB displayed the brighter shades of lifeThis month quite a number of movies are under review for sending nomination for Oscar – like LGMB, KANK, Kkrish… I think LGMB should be a unanimous choiceSanjay Dutt not only delivered his best but also lived the character of MB. Same for Boman Irani, Vidya Balan, Arshad Varsi and the Old Men in respect of their individual roles.   Just now heard the following news at two different news channels:1. Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi remembered in USEx Police Commissioner,
2. Mumbai appeals for a tight punishment for Sanjay Dutt for 1993 case. (Note: Sanjay Dutt has already spent 18 months in Jail in 1993 for that)
