Movie Review: Aashiqui 2: All Credit Goes To Music And Lyrics

This movie is among those few in which all the songs touch top of the charts rank. All the song, music and lyrics of this movie is fantastic. Story is about a drunkard and self demeaned singer who lost his vigor and wish to be among the best of the singers in the country though he could have. He meets a girl whose voice is as good as his and his sole intention goes into making her number one singer of the country.

The love in between them takes quite a number of twists and twirls and finally meets with a tragic end.

Movie Review: Aurangzeb: A Story Of Corrupt Politics And Integrity

Power and money corrupts mind and that has been shown in this movie. Deputy Commissioner of Haryana Police, DCP Ravikant (Rishi Kapoor) has an extremely manipulative mind but has no place in life except himself. He uses relations only for his own sake to drive out his motives. ACP Arya (Prithviraj Sukumaran) has played his lead role excellently. ACP Arya lives to his wisdom and values given to him by his father played by Anupam Kher.

The story is complex, intriguing and quite interesting. This fast moving story keeps your interest alive right since beginning till the last scene.

Movie Review: Aashiqui 2: Interesting Story With Superb Music And Lyrics

The story is about Bollywood. It is about rise and fall of a star singer and how the things change around this star with his changing scenario. It is about obsession and depression. Released on 26 April 2013 under the banner of T-Series and Vishesh Films, Aashiqui 2 is directed by Mohit Suri on the story written by Shagufta Rafique. Lead roles have been played by Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Aditya is Vidya Balan's brother-in-law and Shraddha is daughter of well known actor Shakti Kapoor. So basically both are well conversant with Bollywood.

Both Aditya Roy Kapoor (Rahul Jaykar, RJ) and Shraddha Kapoor (Aarohi Keshav Shirke) have performed excellent roles in Aashiqui 2 with full justification to the roles assigned to them. RJ has been a top singer who is passing through troubled waters as far as his career is concerned. He has given ample business and hits to the industry but somehow he could not sustain to his stardom and get delved into habit of heavy drinking. He goes into a kind of frustration and depression mode with no optimism about his career. While returning from one of his not too successful stage show, he meets Aarohi singing in a bar to earn her living. Rahul finds her voice flawless and hence introduces her to bollywood industry.

Aarohi becomes a top star singer in no time and then story moves to a sad end....

Most of the songs of this movie are a big hit like:
1. Sun raha hai na tu - sung by Ankit Tiwari
2. Sun raha hai na tu - sung by Shreya Ghoshal
3. Tum hi ho - sung by Arijit Singh

Movie Review: Chennai Express: Big Names Short of Ideas And Delivery

Big names associated with Chennai Express like Rohit Shetty, Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Yo Yo Honey Singh etc. fail to create a magic in this movie. First of all it is not clear if the movie is meant for Hindi knowing audience or Tamil. Lot of Tamil dialogues are there in the movie where movie watchers will have no idea and they keep guessing.

Lot of masala has been tried by Rohit Shetty in an effort to draw attention from masses.  Songs, story, dialogues, script - none though are can be called as excellent. Story is quite weak and theme of the movie is light entertainment. Story is about a
Tamil girl (Deepika Padukone) who is running from her home as her father is forcing her to marry with a boy of his choice which she is not interested in. On the same train (Chennai Express) you will find Shahrukh Khan who has planned to get down at Goa though he has promised his grandmother that he is going to Rameshwaram to disperse remains of his grandfather who died recently, in the sea there. Though he promised his grandmother the same but is not serious about it and has planned to go to Goa along with his friends and enjoy there for some time.

But finding Deepika in the same train changes his plans and he decides travel ahead in the same train instead of getting down at Goa. Gradually they fall in love, and next big task for Shahrukh is to convince Deepika's father to allow him to marry with her.

The train in no way is express. It is slower than any slowest of the train. You will have a big fight in deciding which half was more boring, and slower too. Go with a 100% risk to watch this movie. It may totally spoil your mood if you go with some expectations from this movie.

Movie Songs Review: Netaji Subhash: The Last Hero

Actors: Sachin Khedekar, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Rajpal Yadav, Sonu Sood, D Datta Music: A R Rahman Director: Shyam Benegal Lyrics: Javed Akhtar

1. Azadi: A R Rahman Jage hain ab sare log tere dekh watan Unche hain naron se ab ye zameen aur gagan Kal tak main tanha tha soone the sab raste Kal tak tanha tha par ab hain sath mere lakhon logo ki dhadkan dekh watan A typical A R Rahman music with high beats fully fit for the movie filming an era when India was planning to struggle for freedom. Lyrics: 3/5 Music: 3/5 Voice: 3/5

2. Desh ki mitti: Sonu Nigam, Anuradha Sriram Mujhe yaad aati hai, mujhe yaad aati hai Apne desh ki mitti ki khushboo Mujhe yaad aati hai Kabhi behlati hai, kabhi tadpati hai Mujhe yaad aati hai apne desh ki mitti A slow, melodious, sweet song. Remembering country like one remembers his girl friend. This love for country for freedom fighters was just like that. Today we know only one meaning of Ishq & Love. Poweful lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Music: 4.5/5 Lyrics: 4.5/5 Voice: 5/5

3. Durga Pooja: Rhythm No singers, just instrumental, all related to Durga Pooja. But if you listen to it, it fills some josh in you. Music: 3.5/5

4. Ghoomparani: Sapna Mukherjee, Satyanarayanan Mishra Nindiya rani sapne de do, munne ke naino ko Sapno ki duniya mein hai, rang bhari duniya ye Tere honthon pe muskan hai A mix of hindi and bengali lyrics. Hindi I could understand, Bengali I could only guess it would be what she is singing in Hindi is repeating in Bengali. This is basically a lullaby and a sweet one. Lyrics: 4.5/5 Music: 4.5/5 Voice: 5/5

5. Hum Dilli Dilli Jayenge: Hum dilli dilli jayenge, hum apna hind banayenge Subhash ka ye kehna hai, chalo dilii chal ke rehna haiThis is a group song. Again full of joshili voices and Rahman beats. Tells about the directions of bose to reach Delhi and get it out of the hands of Phirangis. Lyrics: 5/5 Group Voice: 3.5/5 Music: 4/5

6. Jana Gana Mana National Anthem instrumental. Good to listen anytime anywhere. Full marks. I remember in olden days at the end of a movie in theatres, they used to play National Anthem and all used to stand up. Never came to know why it was stopped. Music: 5/5

7. Kadam Kadam: Vijay Prakash Kadam kadam bdayeja, khushi ke geet gayeja Ye zindagi hai kaum ki, tu kaum pe lutayeja Again a joshila song telling to not to fear of your life, fight with the enemy and achieve your goals. Most of our parents would know this lyrics already. Used to be very popular in earlier generation schools, functions etc. Music: 4/5 Lyrics: 4.5/5 Voice: 4.5/5.

8. Zikr: A R Rahman, Rafi, Shaukar Ali Zikr hai behtar nafrat se, zikr hai behtar seerat se Ruhe muhammad Allah hu hu Allah hu hu, la ilaha il lilah Har gul mein har shai mein Nijaad milti hai unko yakeenan karein jo Frankly speaking, listened to this song many times, but could not understand the words and meanings completely. Only message I could get is that it said about dropping the hatered among each other and fight together against the enemy. Music: 3/5 Lyrics: 2.5/5 Voice: 3/5 9. Ekla Chalo: Nachiketa Chakraborty, Sonu Nigam A well know song by ravindra nath tagore – ekla chalo ekla chalo. His song’s first lines have been used and then lyrics by Javed Akhtar has been added. Nachiketa: ekla chalo ekla chalo ekla chalo re Sonu: Tanha rahi apni rah chalta jayega Ab to jo bhi hoga dekha jayega Bojh kitna bhi ho mushkilon ka magar Na jhuka hai na jhukega ye sar Bazi par lagane ki khatir Ham jaan hatheli par laaye This means that even if others don’t come forward for the country, don’t wait, and don’t hesitate in fighting alone and get killed instead of living like this. Lyrics: 4.5 Music: 4.5/5 Voice: 5/5 In most of the songs trumpets, drums have been used, not in all songs only where appropriately required. Overall rating: 3.5/5

Movie Review: Rang De Basanti: Who Will Clean The House First?

Some movies are not made, they just happen, like birth, like death. Birth of a new born makes us realise of life, death makes us realise that every life should have a meaning else it is useless. This movie is superb. All those who have not seen this movie must go and see.

It makes you touch yourself, your innerself. this inner self sometimes in many lives remains untouched throughout. In most of the lives they touch their inner self momentarily. Few are those who once touch it, live with it, without loosing the contact till death. Those rare ones become - Shahid Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Vir Savarkar, Tatya Tope, Rani Laxmibai, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Subhash Chandra Bose.

I am not going the discuss the story of the movie. I want to discuss certain other things those arose out while I was coming out of the theater.
1. how long are we going to keep on singing the songs of freedom fighters and revolutionaries. where are the mothers who give birth to those kind even today, where are the family customs that bring out those jewels out of common people. we feel happy in looking at their photographs in government offices, watching their movies, reading their books (although very less are there who enjoy all this) rest all are good at 9 to 5, family problems, movies, discos, outings, picnics, etc. etc.
2. if society iand systems are wrong who are we expecting to come like robin hood and change it, who else if not us
3. we just feel proud and feel good after watching these movies and getting touched for a while, but nothing comes out of it if we remain what we are. not much, I just shared what I felt.

We all want change without being the initiator or being part of it. then no change will happen. every one has to come forward but to bring them forward why out of us come out some Bhagat Singhs, some Chandra Shekar  Azads ...... making this movie tax free is a political stunt since this movie highlighted saffrons. But sitting at power do not know that all politician sit this side or that side are same only change is the name of the party they represent. else they eat and drink and enjoy all together. We all are carrying Bhagat Singh and Chandra Shekhar Azad inside us. it is there in our hearts but only sad point is we rarely or seldom reach there, touch them, feel them and then leave them and get busy in our routines. comments please.............

Movie Review: Pyaar Mein Twist: BOBBY Part II - No Kiss But Do Not Miss

This movie has few messages –
1. Don’t become so selfish in life that you ignore other’s happiness,
2. Love can occur at any moment in life, depending on how you react towards your vacuum and gap formed in life,
3. Don’t feel ashamed or hesitant of admitting some good things in life, especially LOVE,
4. Every body has a right to live happily,
5. And finally Listen to your heart, sometimes when it tries to tell you the discovery of your true love.

The movie is a remake of an English movie I saw many years ago (and have forgotten its name, plz tell if any body remembers it) The story goes like- Rishi Kapoor (Tej Pal Singh) started his career with a small cycle repairing shop and now at the age around 50s is now the chairman of a group of companies. Movie starts with a board meeting where he declares to hands over the chairmanship to his son.

Tunnu (Satish ) or Karan Khanna is the king of liquor industry and is a good friend of Tejpal. Tejpal is a widower and has a son, Sameer, who is married and his wife is expecting. Movie starts with a very light mode. It is a family drama involving two families. But after interval the movie takes a serious turn. Overall it is a light, neat and clean family drama with a twist, with a message that vacuum has no meaning in life and it can be replace with love at any time, any age. Sheetal Arya (Dimple Kapadia) is also a widower who has lost her hubby Vishal is a quite gorgeous lady devoted to her family comprising of her sis-in-law (Farida Jalal), soon to be married daughter (Soha Ali Khan) and a son.

Both the families are well-to-do, quite rich and well settled. Only thing is that Tej and Sheetal both are living with a gap or vacuum in their life for a long time that arose after the death of their respective spouses, but both are unaware, ignorant about that. Sheetal meets Tej and both get attracted toward each other because of their common gap in life and both are still having a heart that is untouched by love.

The love advances in meetings, outings and dinners at restaurants. This new spreads and moves around both the families and others known people in the town, due to which the would be in-laws of Rhia (Soha Ali) are hesitant to go about the engagement of their son with Rhia. This creates problem in Tej’s and Sheetal’s family and both families kids start blaming other’s family for these problems. Sheetal moves away from her family with Tej as per the advice of her sis-in-law who is the only per son who understands this love and favors uniting them at this age against the will of the young kids of both the families. Now when they are away both families kids gradually realize that there is nothing wrong in what their parents have done.

They start realizing the compromises and sacrifices made by both Tej and Sheetal respectively in their families at the cost of their happiness and hence they agree to their marriage. Both the families start wondering where their respective father and mother are, eager to meet them and convey them the message that they have a right to fill their gaps and be happy for the balance part of their lives. Ultimately they find them and story ends with two marriages – Soha’s with her fiancĂ©e and Tej’s with Sheetal. Out of the three songs, one is quite melodious which goes like – “Pal tham gaya hai ham chal rahe hain, jaag ke kis khwab mein dhal rehe hain” Overall a good, light movie that flows without breaks and jerks and ends with a happy note. And you come out humming – “pal tham gaya hai……..

Movie Review: 15 Park Avenue: You are my WORLD

I saw a wonderful movie 15 Park Avenue and was simply glued to the chair from the beginning to the end. It was an extremely simple movie story line where women in the family stand up to protect, support and care for the mentally ill. It has a totally different impact on society of today, of course provided we see it.

In case one is very impressed by action movies, rape of Aparna (the mentally ill) is also a kind of violence that the society seems to be encouraging.  The story line, dialogues and action carry a message that one needs to give an important thought.   The discussion between the Doctor and Shabana has an excellent message, unlike many Western and Indian movies. The dialogues were extremely thought provoking especially when they talk of Aparna’s imaginative world.  They have a world that decides their world of living, why is it that one has to sit and curb such thoughts and don’t allow them to grow or even be expressed at all?

The reality in our world is as much a reality of their imaginative world.  One has to accept that.   The most important part of the movie is where mother and sister take all the care of Aparna despite many suggestions from various sectors of the society telling them to admit her in the hospital.  This is an extremely important message that the story and the director give the audience, because it is true that there are hospitals to take care of them, but there is so much attention and love a family can give and that they really look for. Isn’t it the basics of our familial ties to give them that kind of attention and love? It sometimes works better than the drugs that are administered.

Movie Review: Paheli: Real Paheli

It is really a paheli, why amol palekar chose this theme, it is meant for whom, kids or adults, is it suited for today's time when some othe better theme could be taken and presented.

Although
direction, cast, acting is marvellous but still movie has flopped, may be due to above reasons.

Movie starts with rajasthan background (deserts) and rani mukherjee (laachi) getting married to kishan who is the younger son of a baniya seth (anupam kher) of a village. Just on the way to his house while taking the new bride, the boy family plans to stop at a place to take some rest. This place is hosting some ghosts. a ghost gets admired by Laachi’s beauty and starts loving her.

Laachi does not have her first night with her husband as kisan has to leave for a business tour for five years early in the morning and he has to finish and hand over some work to his father before he goes. (early morning is the best muhurat to start for business which will not come for next 7 years). so the new bride laachi sleeps alone and early morning kisan is moving. On his way, he stops at the same place of ghosts. this ghost talks to him and comes to know that kisan will be back after 5 years. This ghost is having very good character and never tells lies but never minds going to somebody else’s wife and enjoy with her in his absence.

Now this ghost take the shape of kisan and comes to his father’s house. convinces him that he is kisan and starts living with laaachi. Tells laachi what he is really and asks that if she does not want him to live there he will leave. She is seeking love and affection and hence She tells him to stay as her husband.

In a couple of years she becomes pregnant, real kisan comes back, and everybody gets surprised to find two kisan’s. then comes the climax when the ghost decided to leave since he is not real but he just remembers he gave a promise to laachi.

So the real kisan goes and ghost comes back to laachi.

Cast, songs, direction is good but with a poor storyline.

Movie Review: Main Aisa Hi Hoon: An Emotional Movie

Like in life it is a fights between good and bad, right and wrong, logic and illogic, money and emotions, big and small, power and weak. if you want to have some dance numbers and a big fight (dhisum dhisum), this movie is not for you. The story is about a man Neel working in a restaurant having brain of 7 years old. who talks only about good and love, all positive. He has a daughter Gungun, who loves him and understands him. Then he has around half a dozen of people around him with whom he lives and shares. They all too love him and understand him.

Esha Deol was a daughter of a very rich man (Anupan Kher) who lives in a foreign country. He has given every thing to his daughter except emotional bondings and love. Esha leaves her house and comes to India. here probably story gets lost here, accidentally the girl (Esha) starts living with Neel (Ajay Devgan), look something illogical, gets fascinated towards him and ultimately declares she is pregnant during a song.

She gives birth to Gungun (a child role played excellently), and vanishes. Gungun has started going to school when all of a sudden Anupam Kher (Esha's father and Gungun's Grandfather) appears from foreign to take Gungun with him. He hires a lawyer and files a case against Neel in the court to get his grand-daughter.  Esha sent a letter to her father before

She dies by over-dosing of drugs. in her letter she tells him that she never got love from him and no emotional attachment. She tells her father that in india she has her family who need his attention and care (husband and daughter). but anumap kher has no intentions of taking neel with him. He just wants to take gungun with him to his country. Richa (Sushmita Sen), a divorced lawyer living with her son is busy in work and office. She has attachment with her son but her son feels that she is very busy and has no time for him. He runs away from home and Neel finds him, gets friendly to him and brings him back to his home. Richa decides to fight for Neel in the court and was about to loose the case when in last moment she decides to marry Neel and hence judge has to take a decision in favour of Neel. a happy ending, a win of love over hate.
